ASD Outreach Classes
Scoil Chiaráin CBS has three dedicated classes for Autism. These classes cater for boys only, who are of primary school age;
4-12 years.

In line with Department guidelines, each class has six pupils with one teacher and two SNAs.

The opening of our first class in 1998, consolidated Scoil Chiaráin’s drive to create a fully inclusive school. A secure, safe and nurturing school environment continued to grow and develop – one in which each child has the opportunity to flourish in all aspects of their development.

An emphasis is placed on meaningful and purposeful integration with other classes where it is beneficial to all.

Each class supports the learning and developmental needs of each child, incorporating differentiated learning approaches and curriculum, varied teaching methodologies, and with a particular focus on the enhancement of social skills and peer interaction and friendships.

A standard enrolment form must be completed to apply for a place in one of our classes. This form must also be accompanied by a psychological assessment, with a diagnosis of Autism and a recommendation for a special class setting. More information regarding our Admissions Policy can be found under our policies tab in the Our School dropdown menu.
